Check Me Out!

Whew. So, uh...hi again, after a long absence!

Things have been weird for me the past few months as far as art goes. My Spring semester of college stressed me out so much that art became a negative thing, and when the summer came, I avoided it all costs. But you know, that just wouldn't do, so slowly, bit by bit, I've been using sketching to recover. It was this picture that made me FINALLY want to color something, and I'm SO glad I got to that point. It's so upsetting to think that I've gotten disconnected with art. I need to be reunited with it again. Now. |: And I'm almost there...almost there...<3

But yeah, this is the picture! It started out as a sketch in my sketchbook. I was just trying to practice DP style, but when this one came out of my pencil, I just LOVED it way too much ;A;. So what was there left to do but color it? ~

While I was working on it, I got to thinking...usually, I associate Danny with grunginess, anxiety, and ferity -- like the things you'd expect from a story about the dead. Because of that, I end up perceiving him as being older than he actually is. But while I was drawing, I remembered that he really is only 14, and that, more than anything, Danny probably doesn't dwell on the bad things, but just gets excited and curious about the supernatural things he can do. So that's what I tried to capture in this picture -- that sense of freedom and just enjoying what you are.

Oh, and I slaved over this by the way. This should have taken only, what, two or three hours, but uh...it didn't. I don't even know how long it took, it was just an incredibly long amount of time ;-; and I couldn't figure out what to do for the BG so I just did transparent aljdlfjafd which I'm actually kind of excited about, I've always wanted to do something with a transparent BG, haha....

But anyway, yeah! DP fanart for ya. Let's hope this drawing thing sticks...<3
