Artist's Comments

Blah, I feel bad for changing my Deviant ID so soon, but my last one started bugging the crap out of me about half a week in. It seemed like the more time that passed, the more obvious my mistakes became to me. Ugh. *Shiver.*Not to mention the lack of a shadow was making the blank background look terrible. It got to the point where I was just too embarrassed to have it up. So, here's a new one. It has its mistakes, but thankfully it's not nearly as bad as the last.

The original text was going to be, "You have been ED-APPROVED. You may now proceed to the rest of Dragon-Face's page," and it was also going to be Dark Ed in the picture frame instead of regular Ed. (For those who don't know, Edward of Dark is my OC.) However, the phrase "Ed-Approved" would cause too much clash and confusion if it was Dark Ed in the picture, and I really didn't want to give up the idea. So I sadly placed regular Ed in there instead. As for the "You may now proceed..." bit, I felt like it was too much of a mouthful and detracted from the punch-line. Thusly, you have gotten what you have now XD.

Also, as one last note, the reason I'm using Ed as my Deviant ID is because Ed is both my favorite character ever and my role-playing character. (God, I feel so unoriginal. I need to go back to loving Al =o=. But...I-I can't...Ed is just too awesome....) Usually, when depicting friends and stuff, my friends and I both think of and draw each other as our role-playing characters. So, naturally, I would be Ed XD.

Done traditionally with sketchbook paper, no. 2 pencil, and permanent markers. I also spent about 2 hours in Photoshop fixing some nasty scanner-related mistakes on Ed's hair -_-.

lol he looks cool!!

I know right, I hate my scanner D: it always makes my drawings have nasty colours instead of the ones that it should have. I hate that, cause I cant fix it with photoshop....I dont know how to use photoshop TwT

XD Photoshop takes experience. I can touch up things SO much better than I could last year. When I look at the stuff I did last year, I cringe >_<. The only thing you can do is practice, sadly.

I don't care how much practice I get, though, I STILL can't color in Photoshop DX. (Don't really want to, anyway. I'm a traditional freak.)

I do cringe too when I look at the stuff I drew four months ago. I just started drawing real seriously since 4 months ago XDD, before that I sucked at drawing and colouring.
Yeah, I need LOTS of practice too ;-;

XDD I coloured just one picture in photoshop [link] It took me four days XDD and I didnt know much about photoshop back then, but I think it looks kind of good...maybe XD
Later I tried colouring again in photoshop, and it was epic fail, I cant do it anymore >__>
I prefer traditional too! I think when you draw traditional, it takes more skills in colouring than with digital.

Oooh, not bad! Yeah, it looks like it took four days XD. The hard work payed off, woot!

I agree on the traditional vs. digital point. I mean, I know digitally coloring takes a lot of work, too, but I don't know, there just seems to be something different, more involved about traditional coloring. It takes skill, dangit! >_<" (And there's no undo button if you're not using graphite, lead, or pastel.)

Blah. Maybe one day I will attempt to color something digitally. But for now...dangit, I'm scared o_o ;_;

haha yeah XD

Yes, I think digital takes skill too, but its easier, coz the undo button D: and when you do it traditionally, if some ink falls where it shouldnt be, its all over, you have to do it again >__> so with traditional you gotta be more carefull than with digital.

XDD

Yes, yes, very true *nods.* You actually have no idea how many times I've dropped a pencil on my paper and left a nasty dark mark that can't be completely erased. It's because I'm addicted to "fiddling" with them in my fingers. I really need to get out of the habit...=o=.

LOL I do that too! XDDD

I just had lots of trouble with one drawing, that I had to repeat several times, like, 10 times D: I just couldnt get the lineart right, and its worse when my hand is shaking, I dont know why it was shaking, but it was terrible D:

And when im colouring, I sometimes go out of the line and I cant erase it anymore XDD If its too obvious I colour a background so it cant be seen XD
